MEET THE EXPATS
Tofer Moran and Meghan Mahoney make up the filmmaking duo Expat. Their partnership is built on contrasting but complimentary backgrounds, combining over 20 years of advertising experience with visual arts and film production, through which they bring an expressive, organic and neo-surrealist approach to their work—bridging the world of the ethereal with the natural.
Their style is built on the purity of cinematic, visual storytelling and focuses on the essence of what it means to be human, while also creating emotional space for existential exploration. The stories they tell often find their power in the tension of seeking truth in the abstract.
With a first-hand understanding of production realities in filmmaking, as well as an appreciation for the demands of commercial advertising, their experience allows them to work in a variety of capacities—from small-scale projects to brand campaign work with clients such as Verizon, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Roblox.
They bring a shared passion for doing provocative and intentional work while providing a space for collaboration and spontaneity in the creative process. Because often, the most emotional moments in filmmaking present themselves unexpectedly and can only be captured with open minds.
